TREC covers the skills and hazards you might encounter out hacking, including map reading, mounting and dismounting, going through water, under low hanging trees, opening gates, crossing bridges and jumping over fallen logs. The winner is determined by points gained over the three phases of the competition.

Horseball
Horseball is the latest British equestrian sport, recently imported from France. This spectacular game has been described as a cross between rugby and basketball on horseback and was invented by Jean-Paul Depons, a former riding instructor and rugby player. The game was created as an excercise to improve skill and discipline between horse and rider.

There is a distinct difference between horse competitions, for example dressage or three-day-eventing and horse shows. Showing horse provides an opportunity for riders and owners to show off their animals without taking part in any of the normal disciplines.
